Eye Glasses
By: Rosi Pagan
I really don’t like going to the eye doctor. “Your eye sight has changed a bit.” I reply quickly “Good, that means my sight is getting better!” He chuckles “No, it has gotten worse. It‘s only a little though.” I may pout a bit when I get the news but, over all, I’m ok with my new set of specks. Here’s why.
I’m a school bus driver. I enjoy my job and my eyesare the #1 safety tool. I inspect the school bus from top to bottom, side to side, back to front and inside out. It doesn’t stop there. I’m using my eyes as I drive and watching the kids too. So my eyes are important to me and to my job. How much MORE important do you think are my glasses? It’s VERY important!
That’s why even though I don’t like going to the eye doctor. I go anyway. I go because in the end, I get the best care, the best specks and I can do my job the best that I know how.
God’s Word is the same. You may not like reading. The thought of reading a book, especially with no pictures, makes your skin crawl. But reading, even a small portion, of the God’s Word daily will be like putting on a brand new pair of specks to a nearly blind person.
Combine praying with reading and it’s like getting your glasses cleaned with every use.
Ever had a dirty pair of glasses on your face? Those smudges, fingerprints and grease spots are such a pest. Grab a bottle of eye glass cleaner and a soft tissue and your good as new. It’s the exact same thing when you pray then read the Bible! God will clean your mind, heart and eyes. So every time you read the Bible you will see things you never seen before. Understand things that were a mystery before. Your heart will feel things that you thought were not possible. Your whole life will be new! |
